Come and Partake
In honor of the the birthday of the Relief Society, we held a party at the Morton's home on 3/26. We had a fabulous time eating delicious cakes, and discussing how we as women are the "salt of the earth". The picture above didn't capture everyone that attended, but all had a wonderful time. Hope to see more of you at our next activity!

Relief Society Lesson 3/24
This week's lesson was given by Elizabeth Fetzer. She was substituting for Linda Widman, who has been ill. We all hope for her a speedy recovery! The lesson was on this talk, click for the link:
By President Henry B. Eyring
Here are a few thoughts from this wonderful lesson:
- Our own desires, rather than a feeling of “Thy will be done,”2 create the feeling of a pavilion blocking God. God is not unable to see us or communicate with us, but we may be unwilling to listen or submit to His will and His time.
- Our feelings of separation from God will diminish as we become more childlike before Him.
"Although His time is not always our time, we can be sure that the Lord keeps His promises. For any of you who now feel that He is hard to reach, I testify that the day will come that we all will see Him face to face. Just as there is nothing now to obscure His view of us, there will be nothing to obscure our view of Him. We will all stand before Him, in person. Like my granddaughter, we want to see Jesus Christ now, but our certain reunion with Him at the judgment bar will be more pleasing if we first do the things that make Him as familiar to us as we are to Him. As we serve Him, we become like Him, and we feel closer to Him as we approach that day when nothing will hide our view."

Cannery Trip 2013!!
We had a wonderful time at the cannery and came home with trunks full to capacity for all of the members that ordered food. A big thank you to Marya Kelly and Jen Fuhriman and their committee for organizing and keeping track of all of those orders, teaching us about using canned food, and for making this trip a great experience!!
The cannery is open to members and non-members alike so those of you who were unable to order this time, you can still order on your own. Download an order form from www.providentliving.org and head down to Naperville. In addition, our stake owns a canner and a sealer that you are welcome to borrow if you'd like to set up your own canning at home, just let me (Kate) know if you need the equipment. I'm sorry the pictures are not great, but the company was excellent!

Our happy shoppers at the Bishop's Storehouse.
Didn't we all just LOVE those hairnets?
Box after box after box of food.
It's great to see men in the "kitchen" packing food.
A hard-working group of wonderful Saints!

Relief Society Lesson 3/17
Sister DeAnn Schumann provided our wonderful lesson this past Sunday. It was from the Lorenzo Snow manual, Chapter 5 "The Grand Destiny of the Faithful". Click for a link for the lesson. A few thoughts from the lesson:
- Because we have divinity within us, we can become like our Father in Heaven.
- The scriptures teach of our divine potential.
- As we remember the blessings the Lord has prepared for us, we find joy amid the cares and vexations of life.
"The people of God are precious in His sight; His love for them will always endure, and in His might and strength and affection, they will triumph and be brought off more than conqueror. They are His children, made in His image and destined through obedience to His laws to become like unto Him. …"
